Workers Are Not To Resume On Monday, UNILAG Says
On Sunday, the University of Lagos told staff not to resume until a phased resumption program has been placed in place.
A statement signed by the registrar of the university, Mr. Oladejo Azeez, stated that only employees were required in the workplace for important duties.
The statement reads: “The Directive of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency, Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, on the phased and incremental easing of lockdown steps in the FCT, Ogun and Lagos states scheduled to begin on Monday 4 May 2020, was reviewed by the management of the University of Lagos at its meeting on Tuesday, April 28, 2020.
“Management agreed that staff members would not resume on Monday 4 May 2020 in order to allow appropriate steps to be placed in place for a phased resumption.
“Staff members are advised hereby to await the schedule of duty resumption which will be issued as soon as possible.
Meanwhile, employees of critical tasks, such as the Works and Physical Planning Unit (Power), Safety, as well as the Faculty and Hostel Porters, should be in their duties.
