Nyesom Wike, Governor of Rivers State, has visited the house of former Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission, Joy Nunieh, to “rescue” her after the place was surrounded by policemen, who barred her from leaving home this morning.
Wike forced entry into Nunieh’s house and ordered the police officers out of the premises. He drove off with her in his convoy shortly afterward.

A source informed the reporter that the former NDDC MD had put a call to governor Wike when she realised a siege had been laid on her residence. The source told the reporter that the disappointed police officers had to make a retreat as they were not able to arrest the ex-NDDC MD.
Nunieh, early this week, had an altercation with the Minister of Niger Delta, Goodswill Akpabio over the issue of alleged fraud in the NDDC.
Nunieh had accused the Minister of sexual harassment an allegation the latter has denied. The former NDDC boss was to appear before the House of Representatives Adhoc Committee on NDDC today 16 July 2020.
Its was gathered that Nunieh was preparing to fly to Abuja to honour the invitation when the police laid siege on her residence. The Police have, however, denied any knowledge of the siege at her residence which begun as early as 4:30 am.
