The Federal Government has placed the scheduled resumption of federal schools on hold, Live News Nigeria reports.
This has also stopped students from participating in the earlier West African Senior School Certificate exams scheduled for August 4 to September 5.
At the conclusion of a meeting of the Federal Executive Council, chaired by the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, disclosed this to State House Correspondents.
The minister has said that federal schools will remain closed until reopening them is safe.
He also urged government governments that declared proposals for the resumption of schooling to cancel these proposals.
Adamu said the West African Exams Council will be unable to decide the date for Nigeria ‘s schools to reopen.
He said he’d rather lose an academic year for the Nigerian students than expose them to dangers.
