The Supreme Court’s Justice Samuel Chukwudumebi Oseji died roughly a year after he was sworn in.
The court’s spokesperson, Dr. Akande Festus, said the 67-year-old died early on Tuesday, September 28, 2021.
He died at the National Hospital, Abuja, where he had been battling a protracted illness.
Justice Oseji was appointed a judge of the High Court of Justice, Delta State before being promoted to Court of Appeal in 2010.
The late judge has served in Enugu, Benin, and Lagos before being elevated to the nation’s apex court.
His death brings the total number of Supreme Court Justices in Nigeria to 17.
The deceased was born on June 2, 1954, in Aniocha North LGA of Delta State. He attended Saint Patrick’s College, Asaba, Delta State.
He graduated from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka in 1984 and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1985.
