Soldiers Kill Boko Haram Top Commanders In Counter Attack

Scores of high-profile Boko Haram Commanders loyal to the Abubakar Shekau faction were killed in a counter-attack by Operation Lafiya Dole troops following a failed attack on the Banki junction troops, The Nation learned.

Those killed in the attack include, among others, Manzar Halid, Amir Abu Fatima and Nicap, seventy-two sect members were neutralized as well.

Other high-ranking fighters, including Abu Jamratu AL-Naweer, Kaka Bana and Tareta Babakari, were also seriously injured with slim survival chances.

“Therefore Operation LAFYA DOLE troops carried out a counter-attack on May 26, 2020, against the terrorists. After the attack, human intelligence reported the of several high-ranking Abubakar Shekau’s Boko Haram terrorist faction leaders.

“The murdered BHT / ISWAP commanders include among others Manzar Halid, Amir Abu Fatima and Nicap. Seventy-two (72) members have since been neutralised. Other survival wounded include several high-profile commanders and soldiers, namely: Abu Jamratu AL-Naweer, Kaka Bana, and Tareta Babakari.

It added that “similarly, during the withdrawal of BHT / ISWAP fighters which was in disarray, a large number of their equipment including trucks, motorcycles and bicycles were destroyed by troops in cooperation with the Air Task Force.

“According to reliable reports, the BHT / ISWAP camp is in turmoil and is currently unable to carry out any offensive due to severe loss. However, the blockade of their communication routes, networks, transit points and supplies of logistics had further weakened the terrorists and reduced their freedom of movement and action to the benefit of their own armies.
