Singer Tems reveals how she used to steal food when she was broke

In an interview with the fashion and lifestyle publication GQ, she talked about her professional accomplishments as well as the difficulties she had to overcome before becoming well-known. Tems alleged that she used to steal food because she was so hungry.

“There were times when I was not just broke – I was broke and hopeless. I used to steal food. I used to go to my aunty’s house just so she could give me food to take home.”

Tems claimed that her troubles were brought on by her need to support her family and her inability to find a good career.

The “Crazy Tings” singer admitted to GQ that she was aware that she needed to alter her perspective in order to overcome that person and avoid wallowing in grief.

She made the decision to give music a serious try and to stop viewing herself as “this person that can never be anything.”

“I didn’t have any self-esteem. I didn’t think I was pretty. I didn’t even think of my voice as anything. I just thought, There are so many people that can sing, I’m not a model, I don’t dance, but whatever chance I have, I’ll take it. Even if I end up singing under a bridge somewhere, I’ll be the best under-the-bridge singer ever.”

It was recalled that Tems shared a painful memory from her life before fame when she released a rare photo of her mother.

Tems claimed that she and her mother had a difficult time in life and that one of those instances had her mother being attacked by someone who broke into their home and threatened her with a knife. And at one time in their difficult lives, she abandoned her job and asked her mother for permission to pursue a career in music, which completely transformed their lives.

Tems continued by saying that one of her popular songs, “Mr. Rebel,” will be dedicated to her mother.
