Additionally, they advised the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to refrain from submitting requests to foreign embassies on behalf of federal government officials and their families unless the president has expressly approved them.

On Sunday Shehu responded to the governors’ proposal on his Twitter page, saying that given their advanced age, the governors should have started by removing themselves.

He wrote: “The Governors want Buhari to sack civil servants that are over fifty years of age; they should have started from themselves since all of them are over fifty.”
