No decision yet to supply 2 months free electricity to Nigerians – FG
The Federal Government has but to take a choice to provide free electricity to Nigerians for two months, the Minister of Power, Mr Saleh Mamman, has said.
The minister’s announcement got here after electricity distribution agencies stated that the two-month free electricity which they introduced on Wednesday would be paid for with the aid of the National Assembly and the Federal Government.
Mamman, in a tweet on Friday, said, “No decision has been taken by the Federal Government to supply Nigerians with free electricity for two months.
“If and when that turns into a reality, it shall be introduced officially.
“Be certain that the Federal Government is exploring methods to ameliorate any difficulty on Nigerians.”
The Discos had introduced on Wednesday that they had been in help of the thought by using the National Assembly and the Federal Executive arm of authorities that Nigerians must get two months of free electricity.
Speaking via their umbrella body, the Association of Nigerian Electricity Distributors, the Discos referred to that the modalities for the free electricity would be labored on and made public in due course.
The Discos, however, clarified on Thursday that the electrical energy would be paid for through the Federal Government in partnership with the National Assembly.
