Nigerian Music Legend, Majek Fashek Dies At 57

The legend of Nigerian music and Reggae King Majekodunmi Fasheke, popularly known as Majek Fashek, is dead.

His death was confirmed on the official Instagram account of the late singer, by his manager Omenka Uzoma.

“He’s had pressure calls today, well it’s real that the iconic African No 1 ICON has gone to be with his Maker,” he said.

“Let him rejoice, his successes and his family whatever decisions his immediate family makes will inform.”

Majek was born in Benin, in the state of Edo.

He was one of the remaining Reggae music legend in until his death, Majek gained international attention in 1987 with his self-penned song, ‘Send down the Rain.’

In the 2000 movie ‘Mark of the Beast,’ the singer also played a supporting role.
