NIDCOM Chairman Explains How Gunmen Chased Staffs Out Of Allocated Office
THE Chairman of the Nigeria Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), Abike Dabiri – Erewa, on Saturday alleged that gun-wielding security agents chased the agency’s staff from an office properly allocated to it at the annex building of the National Communication Commission (NCC), Abuja, by the Federal Government.
She said the Communication and Digital Economy Minister Isa Pantami instigated the security personnel.
Dabiri-Erewa made the accusation on television while thinking about the problems the organization is facing on the occasion of its first anniversary.
She said: “We don’t have accommodation in the office when we speak. Where we were posted at the annex building of the NCC, we were chased out by security personnel with weapons within two days we moved in on Hon ‘s orders. Communication and Digital Economy Minister Dr Isa Pantami.’
She added: “When it happened, I was off on official assignment with Mr. President in Addis Abeba and all my staff members were thrown into the street with all our phones, computers, cameras and working equipment stuck in.
“I have a written petition to complain against another government agency regarding this dehumanizing treatment by a government agency.
“The floor is still there, interestingly enough, unused to date. Following the COVID-19 pandemic lockout, we expect to recover all of our land locked in by the Hon. Minister. “Minister.”
“The commission has been growing stronger in fulfilling its mandates, despite all these challenges of lack of funds and office accommodation.”
Nevertheless, the ministry said its response to the accusation was still being prepared when Live News Nigeria reached out to its official last night.
