Muhammadu Buhari Mourns The Death Of Ex-Sokoto Governor
President Muhammadu Buhari has sent his condolences to the Zamfara State government and people over the death of Dr. Garba Nadama, former civilian governor of the old Sokoto State.
The President expressed sadness over the former governor’s death in a statement issued by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, recalling his outstanding academic achievement.
“I’m saddened to learn of the death of Dr. Garba Nadama, a great historian whose PhD thesis is still a guide for many of the country’s students and researchers,” said President Buhari.
The President noted that the late Nadama didn’t come into prominence only because of politics, but also because of his scholarly contributions in the country.
“During the second republic, the former Sokoto State Governor achieved academic distinction in the 70s when there were only fewer people holding a PhD.
“Through hard work and passion for knowledge, he rose to the pinnacle of academic excellence, and I believe that today’s students will strive to build on the records of great scholars like Garba Nadama.”
Although also commiserating with the government and citizens of Sokoto State and the deceased’s kin, President Buhari prayed to God forgiving the departed’s soul and rewarding his great deeds with paradise.
