Messi equals Maradona’s World Cup goals record
Argentina captain Lionel Messi equaled late football legend Diego Maradona’s World Cup record of eight goals for the Albiceleste on Saturday night.
Messi achieved the feat after scoring a goal in Argentina’s World Cup 2-0 win over Mexico.
Two goals from Messi and Enzo Fernandez gave Argentina the victory over Mexico.
Messi’s goal against Mexico at the Lusail Stadium was his second of the tournament.
The 35-year-old ended up winning the Man of the Match award.
