A Nigerian youth has taken to his instagram handle to explain how some greedy officers assaulted him at in his house for buying an iPhone X.

Read his full post below:

“Last week Monday the officers came to my house by 9pm to arrest me that I bought an iPhone X i used to be shocked because buying an iPhone isn’t a criminal offense in Nigeria.

After breaking the door they decided to barter and that they were demanding 500,000 that night. i could not afford it so I suggested we return my phone back to the customer so i could collect back an equivalent amount i bought it. They agreed and that i was locked up within the police cell for the night in A’ division in suleja.

The next morning by exactly 7am, the officers brought me out of the cell so I could contact the shop where I bought the phone so I could inform them that i used to be coming to urge back my money which I did.

A few minutes later my parents informed the officers that they were coming with a lawyer and that they should sell my phone.

The officers panicked and were all trying to avoid involving a lawyer. When the lawyer arrived the officers pleaded and that i was released before noon.

At the first hours of this morning at about 1am, a few of armed men came to my house and were trying to arrest me again this point they didn’t claim to be officers all they said was that they were from Abuja with no ID card or bench warrant insisting that i need to be arrested and when my parents refused, they broker the door and began beating my entire family.

I refused to travel with they them so it led to ally of beating and that they handcuffed one among my hands and that i refused letting them handcuff both hands.

It was a horrifying experience. We called the police headquarters and therefore the officers from the previous setup came and identified those men as officer but they didn’t say if they were from the police or SARS or the other paramilitary.

I managed to flee with one among the handcuff. all of them left around 4am.

I really do not know where to show too because the system is corrupt and it must be fixed.

This is my experience.”
