Just In: Ebonyi State Governor, Dave Umahi, Tests Positive For COVID-19
Ebonyi State Governor Dave Umahi has brought the novel coronavirus to a rigorous test.
This was confirmed by the Governor in a statement he personally signed Saturday.
The statement stated that after carrying out the coronavirus test, he and some of his close aides tested positive for the virus.
Umahi further revealed that they currently show no symptoms but have since been isolated in accordance with the protocols established by the Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC).
The Governor ordered the Deputy Governor, Kelechi Igwe, to take over front-line management of the state’s fight against the pandemic to protect citizens of Ebonyi state.
Umahi called upon the people of the state of Ebonyi to take the NCDC protocols more seriously.
He said he’ll work from home and will virtually conduct all meetings.
Ebonyi reported at least 438 cases of the virus, as on Friday evening, according to the NCDC.
About 357 people were also diagnosed and released safely while three died.
