JUST IN: Dino Melaye Wins In Court
On Tuesday, a court in Abuja High Court discharged Senator Dino Melaye in the federal government’s suit over alleged false information.
Senator Melaye, who had represented Kogi West in the Senate until recently, was brought to trial on a two count indictment.
The charges were based on allegedly giving Police false information.
Ruling on the No Case Request of Senator Dino, Justice Olasumbo Goodluck held that a prima facie case against him was not instituted by the prosecution counsel.
Dino was alleged to have purposely provided false information to the police sometime in April 2017 to incriminate Edward David Onoja, the then Chief of Staff to Kogi State Governor.
Melaye allegedly gave the name of Onoja as the mastermind of an assassination attempt on him, who is now the deputy governor.
