Mrs Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Nigerian Chairman of the Commission for the Diaspora, NiDCOM, lamented the impact of cyber crime on Nigeria’s profile.
Abiri-Erewa lamented that before the global scene, cybercrime had dented Nigeria ‘s profile.
She spoke while warning Nigerians against committing crime and flaunting it as suspected cybercriminal, Ramon Abbas, popularly known on Instagram as Hushpuppi did.
Speaking yesterday with Nigeria News Agency, NAN, the NiDCOM boss lamented “Committing crime and still having the audacity to show off as Ramon Igbalode aka Hushpuppi. That really dent our image as a human being.
“But as I always say, fraud does not reflect who we are as Nigerians; what we, as a country, are known for is hard work, commitment and engagement.”
Leaks say that Hushpuppi and his gang members committed fraud amounting to 1.6 billion dirhams ($435,611,200).
