Governor Masari Relaxes Katsina Lockdown
Katsina Governor Aminu Masari has guided relaxation of the lockdown order imposed across the state from Sunday May 24.
State Secretary, Mr. Mustapha Inuwa, said in a statement that the relaxation order is to be followed within Local Government Areas (LGAs) while the movement ban across LGAs is still in place.
The SSG also reported that the Governor had ordered the Councils of the Katsina and Daura Emirate to ensure that district and village heads stayed in their territories to observe the upcoming Eid-el-Fitr.
According to him: “The governor has noted that within Katsina, the state capital, two-thirds of COVID-19 cases fall in the district.
“Therefore, the residents of the area are advised to follow and adhere strictly to all the protocols provided by health / security officials, such as wearing face masks, social distancing, daily hand washing and the use of hand-sanitising liquid”
“It is therefore important for the elderly and those with health problems to avoid crowded areas.”
He explained the decision was made during the monthly consultation meeting with religious leaders and other stakeholders to lift the lockdown order, adding the decision was taken in the best interests of citizens.
