Ferdinand advises Harry Kane to leave Tottenham
Rio Ferdinand, a Manchester United legend, has advised Tottenham striker Harry Kane to leave the club if he wants to win trophies.
Kane became Tottenham’s record goalscorer on Sunday as he went past the club’s legend Jimmy Greaves’ record of 266 goals, which had stood since 1970.
His goal against Manchester City also took him to 200 Premier League goals, becoming only the third player behind Wayne Rooney and Alan Shearer, who finished their careers with 208 and 260 goals, respectively.
However, despite his goalscoring feats, Kane is yet to win a major trophy in his professional football career.
Speaking about the England captain, Ferdinand said on his Vibe with Five podcast that the 29-year-old would have to leave Tottenham for a new club capable of winning trophies.
The former England defender said, “If he [Kane] wants to win trophies, I think he needs to leave Spurs and go to a team capable of winning – because I don’t see that happening at Spurs in the near future.

“No matter what happens, he’ll go down as one of the best goal scorers this league has ever seen, no matter what. Because the guy just knows how to put the ball in the back of the net in so many different ways.”
He added, “We spoke about this before. I want to hear Harry say it. Would you be happy to finish your career with no trophies but as the highest goalscorer in the Premier League’s history? If he says yeah, then that is it. Argument done. Whatever we say is irrelevant.”
Kane will hope to continue his impressive display for Antonio Conte’s side when they face Leicester City in their next Premier League fixture this weekend.
