EPL: Mikel Obi Set For Return To English Football
According to Tribal Football, West Ham United is in negotiations to sign the former Super Eagles captain, Mikel Obi.
The Nigerian midfielder became a free agent in March after his deal with Turkish side, Trabzonspor, was terminated.
Mikel Obi left the club after he refused to play after the outbreak of COVID-19.
The 33-year-old who had previously played in England for Chelsea and Middlesbrough was also linked to the West Brom side of the Championship.
Yet it’s known that the Hammers are still in talks with him.
Mikel Obi had been closely linked to Brazilian teams, Botafogo and Internacional since leaving Trabzonspor, with the player acknowledging the interest himself.
However, it seems he is set to make a return to English football.
