#EndSARS: Reps condemn British Parliament’s allegation against Gowon

The House of Representatives has criticized the British House of Commons over its recent deliberation on the former Head of State, Gen Yakubu Gowon, who was accused of looting the Central Bank of Nigeria.

At the plenary on Tuesday, the House, while exonerating Gowon, faulted the allegation on Gowon by the British lawmakers as baseless.

The House has, therefore, resolved to convey its grievances to the House of Commons and challenge the parliament to provide proof or apologize to Nigeria.

Members of the United Kingdom Parliament had on Monday last week taken turns to lambast the regime of the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), for the attack and intimidation of protesters who took part in the #EndSARS demonstrations.

They demanded sanctions on government officials such as a visa ban, freezing of assets, and stopping the funding and training for the Nigeria Police Force.

The debate followed a petition started by Silas Ojo which had garnered over 200,000 signatures.
