European football’s steady return has come as a huge relief to fans around the world and there have been few greater signs of its revival than Ronaldo taking to the pitch.
Juve’s welcome-back fixture came against AC Milan in their semi-final second leg of Coppa Italia, nearly four months to the day after the first game was played in San Siro.
That particular encounter ended 1-1 with Ronaldo displaying his coolness under pressure from the penalty spot with a 91st minute equaliser.
Ronaldo Misses Penalty
However, this time around, there was not a single supporter to witness the action as Italy is recovering from one of the pathogen ‘s deadliest bouts.
And Ronaldo may have been thankful for that possibility when in the 15th minute he stepped up for a penalty, failing to convert by hitting the post as he did during the first leg.
You can test his unsolicited return to action below:
This is not exactly how Ronaldo wanted to get back into things swinging.
Rebic Sent Off For Outrageous Karate Kicks
And then, just a few seconds later, Ante Rebic was sent off for a horrible karate kick:
What a wild minute on football in Italy … It’s fair to say that football returns with a bang.
Just imagine the noises that the crowd would have made if they had been there to see Ronaldo break character by striking the post and Rebic making his best Nigel de Jong impression.
Like him or not, Ronaldo is never far from the action, but after so much time away from the pitch maybe his shooting boots are a little rusty.
