COVID-19: Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport Reopens, Makes Changes
Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja on Saturday, reopened for business following the Coronavirus (COVID-19), a pandemic, with the observance of health protocols.
The airport also adopted stringent protection measures intended to curb the spread of the virus.
The Nigeria News Agency (NAN), reports that provisions for hand wash and alcohol-based sanitizers have been made, temperature checks have been carried out, as well as strict compliance with the social distancing order of about one metre.
Journalists covering the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 were led to witness at first hand the reopening of the aviation sector on a dry run check from Lagos to Abuja.
NAN notes that the rows, which were normally packed, were rearranged in line with the distancing social law.
Furthermore, instructions were put on the seats to direct passengers further, such as “do not use this seat,” “keep your distance.”
There were also showcases of two newly acquired passenger identification machines.
Remember that, a few weeks ago, the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) said the airport would reopen for business on Aug. 27, after months of closure following the coronavirus outbreak.
