COVID-19: Nigerian Govt. Gives Fresh Update On Airports Reopening
The Federal Government has confirmed that this Saturday a simulation trial will be conducted on domestic flights at Murtala Muhammed Airport in Lagos.
This is in preparation for reopening commercial flights to airspace in the country.
Aviation minister Hadi Sirika stated this on Monday at the Presidential Task Force’s daily briefing on COVID-19 in Abuja.
Sirika told Nigerians that because of the decision to enforce the social distancing rule onboard, ticket prices would not spike as suspected by many.
“We have met with industry stakeholders to find out how to best open the industry.
“So we’re doing everything we can to make sure ticket prices don’t skyrocke. They might be different but they won’t be something passengers can’t afford.
“Flight trials will be demonstrated in Lagos airport on Saturday before operations resume,” he said.
