COVID-19: Kano testing center suspends operation as they run out of test kits
The newly set up testing centre for COVID-19 in Kano State has suspended its operation.
The Director of the Centre for Infectious Diseases Research, Amimu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH), Isah Abunakar who verified this to Channels Television on Wednesday stated the centre had run out of test kits.
Abubakar introduced that the centre would stay closed until new test kits are provided from Abuja, the nation’s capital.
He introduced that samples taken in Kano will be despatched to Abuja for testing, pending the resumption of operation at the Kano testing centre.
During the transient closure, the laboratory will be fumigated as section of movements bio-safety measures to undergo the security of staff and the environment.
AKTH testing centre for COVID-19 was set up a few weeks ago through the Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC) to comprise the unfold of the deadly virus in Kano State.
