BREAKING: Policeman Opens Fire On His Colleagues
A yet-to-be identified policeman reportedly opened fire on his colleagues at Onikan on Sunday morning, killing a few.
The yet-to-be designated officer went berserk at 5am after a dispute with his team’s other leaders.
It was noticed that after shooting them, the trigger-happy cop stole their operating vehicle and went straight to Akoka in Yaba about 5am where he tried to enter a compound but couldn’t.
The building had a metallic door, sources say, and the policeman claimed to be attached to the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) allegedly opened sporadic fire on the property to gain access.
Residents said they were scared and took cover not knowing what was going on, as it was about 5am.
Live News Nigeria collected that in a premises apartment, corridor, and ceiling no fewer than 30 bullet holes were counted.
It was learned that after his vehicle stock in a ditch, the shooter, who spotted black outfit and rose in a white escort van with siren, might have become more frustrated when he fled.
Sources said distress calls were made to the Bariga Police Division and the Rapif Response Squad (RRS) who deployed operatives to the scene and restrained the shooter.
The trigger happy cop was screaming incoherently from residents’ short videos obtained by Live News Nigeria, a development suggestive of a possible mental illness.
He was heard saying that certain people tried to exploit him, and that in the name of Jesus he should be allowed to go home.
Police spokesperson Bala Elkana told our correspondent at the time of this story that the command was investigating the matter to understand what really happened, adding that a statement would be issued later.
