Godwin Obaseki, the governor of Edo State, has formally announced his decision to resign from the ruling All Progressive Congress.
Obaseki, who was disqualified from contesting the presidential primary election of the party scheduled for June 22, announced the decision to the correspondents of the State House after meeting with the president, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), in the presidential villa in Abuja on Tuesday.
The embattled governor said on another platform he would pursue his ambition to run for a second term in office.
He had said he would only reveal his next line of action after meeting with the President on Monday.
Obaseki had a running battle with his predecessor and Adams Oshiomhole, the party’s national chairman.
