The organization has sacked forty-six employees of Gotel Communications, a media company operated by the former vice president of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar.
Gotel Communication is a corporation transmitting television and radio from Yola, the capital of the Adamawa state.
On Friday, being Workers’ Day, the affected employees were handed their respective sack letters.
The general manager, Mohammed El-Yakub, signed the deal. A copy of the sack letter seen by Live News Nigeria reads in parts;
“The management has decided to discontinue your services with immediate effect.
“Consequently, please be informed that your entitlements including stipend lieu of the notice will be computed and posted into your account with immediate effect.”
Recall that several expatriate employees had accused Gotel of violating the terms of their contracts and refusing to pay them wages and entitlements for several months before.
The expatriates threatened to sue the firm for breaching the terms of their contract.
