Boko Haram/ISWAP Suffer Heavy Casualties As Soldiers Kill 20 In Borno
The Headquarters of Defense says Sector 3 ground troops and Operation LAFIYA DOLE of the Air Task Force inflicted heavy casualties on terrorists from Boko Haram / Islamic State of West Africa who tried to assault Monguno Town in Borno State.
Gen.-Maj. John Enenche, the Defense Media Operations Coordinator who confirmed this in a statement on Sunday, said Saturday the incident occurred.
Enenche said it neutralized 20 Boko Haram / ISWAP fighters and destroyed four gun trucks during the attack.
He said some of the terrorists and their equipment were captured by troops too.
The statement read: “Sector 3 ground troops and LAFIYA DOLE Air Task Force Operation successfully repelled an attack on Monguno city and inflicted heavy casualties on terrorists from Boko Haram / Islamic State of West Africa who attempted to breach Munguno Town in Borno State on Saturday, June 13, 2020.
“Twenty Boko Haram / ISWAP fighters were neutralized and four of their gun trucks destroyed during the combined brave Sector 3 counter-attack and precise ISR and Air Task Force munitions delivery. Some of the terrorists and their equipment were captured by troops too.
“The High Command of the Armed Forces of Nigeria commends the Land component and Air Task Force of Operation LAFIYA DOLE for the dexterity and professionalism exhibited during this operation.”
