Boko Haram: IDPs, Residents Run For Safety In Borno
After the sound of explosions and sporadic gunshots in the area, more than 32,000 internally displaced people said they were living in Dalori IDP camp, Borno State, scampered for safety Sunday.
Dalori people, an outskirt group in Maiduguri, the capital of the Borno state told Live News Nigeria that they couldn’t decide whether it was a Boko Haram attack or the military attempting to exercise force display.
Dalori community was heavily attacked at the height of the insurgency but the area has been enjoying some peace for some time now before the sound of explosions started this evening.
“We would be able to learn exactly what was happening by the morning, but several IDPs, including us, are in hiding for now. Some have fled the camp into the forest, “told our correspondent on phone a resident who does not want his name in print.
The blast and sporadic gunshots, heard in various parts of the metropolis, took over an hour to last.
