Benue University Deputy VC, Achinge, Is Dead
Deputy vice-chancellor of the Benue State University, academic, Prof Godwin Achinge, is dead, Live News Nigeria reports.
Achinge, who was also the vice-president of COVID-19’s Benue State Action Committee, had tested positive for coronavirus earlier.
According to a source, the academic died Sunday afternoon at an unidentified hospital in Jos, the capital of the Plateau State.
A committee member who did not want to be named on the phone reported his death to our reporter.
“Yes, we lost Professor Achingi, the deputy chairman of the state action committee on COVID-19 this (Sunday) afternoon,” the member said.
When contacted, the State Information Commissioner and member of the State Action Committee on COVID-19, Ngunan Addingi, said she had yet to validate the report from the president of the State Action Committee on COVID-19 and the state’s deputy governor, Benson Abounu.
