For the sixth time in the club’s history, German champions Bayern Munich have won the UEFA Champions League after defeating French side Paris Saint-Germain 1-0 in the final in Portugal’s capital Lisbon.
A goal by French winger Kingsley Coman was enough on Sunday for the Munich side to destroy the Parisians’ hope of winning the top European football club competition for the first time.
In the 59th minute the Paris-born Coman, a former player from Paris Saint-Germain, nodded in at the back post from Joshua Kimmich’s cross.
Thanks to the coronavirus pandemic the finals were held behind closed doors.
Bayern ‘s win at the Estadio da Luz in Lisbon guarantees a repeat of their 2013 treble, with coach Hansi Flick joining Jupp Heynckes in the coronavirus-extended 2019/20 season winning the continental crown, Bundesliga and German Cup titles.
In reaching the final for the first time, Paris Saint-Germain celebrated their best-ever Champions League season.
