The Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC) has identified discrepancies in Bank Verification Number (BVN) linked alternate accounts as the major obstacle delaying the payment of insured deposits to former customers of defunct Heritage Bank. According to the Managing Director of NDIC, Bello Hassan, the corporation has paid a substantial amount to depositors without BVN account-linked issues since June 6. A devastating fire broke out at the Obasanjo Trailer Park in Ogere, Ogun State, on Saturday night, destroying a tanker and several makeshift shops along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway axis.
