ASUU Reacts As Lecturer Slumps And Die In His Apartment
The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology (OAUSTECH), Okitipupa, has reacted to the death of a senior lecturer, Dr. Gilbert Ibitola.
Dr. Ibitola had been reported to have slumped and died in his flat.
Dr Dipo Akomolafe, the institution’s ASUU chairman, announced his death in a statement in Okitipupa on Sunday.
He announced that on Friday the deceased, who was from the physical sciences department, died.
Akomolafe added Ibitola was a great physicist who dedicated his life to teaching and serving the community.
He has also identified the deceased as a humorous academic whose life in academia was worthy of emulation.
The statement read: “With deep regret, ASUU, OAUSTECH branch, announces the shocking death of Dr. Gilbert Ibitola, one of our Leaders.
“Ibitola was the acting and pioneer Head of Department and Senior Lecturer in the Physical Sciences Department until his death.”
Akokolafe added that his comradeship and scholarly efforts in ASUU would be greatly missed.
