AMVCA- Actress Bukunmi Oluwasina celebrates with Odunlade Adekola.

Bukunmi Oluwasina, a Nollywood actress, has heaped praise on her senior male colleague, Odunlade Adekola, who recently won an award at the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards.

Bukunmi Oluwasina, the film’s producer, nominated the actor for best actor in a supporting role.

Bukunmi praised him, saying that his victory made her feel like a proud producer.

She thanked him for answering her call and doing his best to bring the script to life when she approached him to star in her film.

“We did it!! Jankariwo brought this home. It’s such a honor to have my movie mentioned twice on the list of the biggest award platform in Africa and successfully bringing one of out the two categories home. Bukunmi Oluwasina was overjoyed when her 2021 film, Jankariwo, became the first Yoruba film to receive two AMVCA nominations.

Bukunmi Oluwasina described how she awoke to 96 missed calls, which scared her at first, but she was overjoyed when she heard the news.

She screamed in delight and told her husband, who informed her that her film had received two nominations.

This was a significant achievement for her because, in the history of the AMVCA, no Yoruba film had received two nominations for Best Indigenous Yoruba Film and Best Supporting Actor.

Bukunmi stated that it took her 7 years to return to the award show.
