Amosun Mourns The Death Of Imam Of Egba
Egbaland’s Chief Imam, Alhaji Liadi Orunsolu, is already dead.
Live News Nigeria learned that Orunsolu died in his Isale Igbein residence in Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State, on Tuesday morning.
Orunsolu, 98, was the President-General, League of Imams, and Alfas in Ogun State until his death.
The late Chief Imam has been gathered to die of age-related illness.
Whereas the former Ogun State Governor and Senator representing Ogun Central, Ibikunle Amosun, has paid a visit of condolence to the deceased nonagenarian’s family.
Amosun, who was in company of a former Minister for Mines and Steel Development, Sarafa Tunji Ishola, a former Ogun State House of Assembly member, Hon. Idowu Olowofuja and others, arrived Orunsolu’s compound around 8:30am.
The former governor described Orunsolu’s death as a great loss to Egbaland and Ogun State in general; ensuring that he has lived a fulfilled life.
He sympathized with the deceased’s family and the state as a whole, praying God to give them the strength to bear the irreparable loss.
“May God give him Firdaus Aljana,” he prayed.
In 2003 Orunsolu was elected as Egbaland’s Chief Imam.
He will later in the day be buried according to Islamic rites
