American Rapper, Kanye West Donates $2m To The Families Of George Floyd, Taylor And Arbery
US rapper Kanye West has donated $2 million to support George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery and Breonna Taylor’s families.
A representative for Kanye West, who disclosed the donation to CNN, made this known.
There has been widespread protest in response to George Floyd ‘s killing, and Kanye West has revealed through a representative that he has donated $2 million so far to charities associated with Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor and George Floyd, and has set up a college fund to cover tuition for Floyd’s 6-year-old daughter Gianna.
Three of the police officers charged in Floyd ‘s death make their first appearance on the court Thursday afternoon, while the Floyd family conducts the first of many memorial services scheduled.
Derek Chauvin, the white cop who for almost 8 minutes tied George Floyd to the ground by his throat, was arrested last week and charged with murder in the third degree and death in the second. He was charged with a more serious count of second-degree murder by prosecutors on Wednesday.
Kanye West has also pledged to cover legal costs for families Arbery and Taylor. And he’ll also be helping black-owned companies with financial contributions in his hometown of Chicago.
The deaths of Arbery and Taylor — in Georgia and Louisville, respectively — preceded the killing of George Floyd.
