Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, national leader and presidential flagbearer of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), has made scathing remarks about the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Kwankwaso described the PDP as a “dead party” during the NNPP’s National Executive Committee meeting on Monday. He recalled his previous statement in Katsina State, where he said the PDP was broken into pieces and imploding. “I’m sure when I was making that statement, many of them did not see what was happening today… now I believe they will agree with all of us that the party is dead”.
Kwankwaso also criticized the APC, stating that its leadership is out of touch with the country’s current challenges, including insecurity, poverty, and hunger. “The APC, as it stands today, you can see that the leadership is just up there in the air, and the entire nation, the people of this country, are on the ground”.
Despite challenges, Kwankwaso expressed confidence in the NNPP’s future, calling it the fastest-growing party in Nigeria. He thanked supporters for their dedication and commitment.
NNPP National Chairman, Dr. Ajuji Ahmed, urged Nigerians to prioritize doing what is right and unite to build a better future. National Secretary Dipo Olayoku encouraged party members to participate in local government elections to boost visibility and strengthen democracy.
However, it’s worth noting that Dr. Ajuji Ahmed’s position as National Chairman has been disputed, with some sources indicating that he was expelled from the party in 2023 ¹. Additionally, Rufai Ahmed Alkali has been elected as the new national chairman of the NNPP, replacing Boniface Aniebonam.
