Controversy erupted after influencer Martins Vincent Otse (VeryDarkMan) released a voice recording purportedly of Bobrisky claiming he bribed EFCC officials to drop money laundering charges.
The crossdresser denied the allegations, stating on Instagram: “My attention has been drawn to a fake voice recording circulating on the internet that I paid EFCC ₦15 million and that I was never in prison.”
Bobrisky affirmed serving his six-month sentence for naira mutilation, contrary to claims he spent it in a lodge arranged by his godfather. “I didn’t pay any EFCC money; it is a very big lie. I served my term in full and I came out. Discard any false information.”
In April 2024, Bobrisky was convicted and sentenced to six months in prison for naira mutilation. The EFCC has been cracking down on financial crimes, and bribery allegations have sparked public concern.
The EFCC has not commented on the matter, fueling speculation about the authenticity of the voice recording and Bobrisky’s claims.
Nigerians are divided, with some questioning Bobrisky’s credibility and others criticizing the EFCC for perceived corruption.
