The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi State has officially launched its campaign for the October 19 local government election, with Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo expressing confidence in a 100% victory for the party.
This optimism stems from the party’s performance in the state, which has seen significant development under Governor Ododo’s leadership.
Governor Ododo emphasized the importance of unity, stating, “We are not lazy in Kogi State. We are committed to earning our living by ourselves. But unfortunately, the enemies don’t want it. Kogi State is our state and we must be united. Politics, religion and ethnicity should not divide us.” He urged citizens to come out and vote for APC on October 19, highlighting the party’s commitment to development and the people.
During the campaign flag-off ceremony in Lokoja, Governor Ododo received Salman Idris, the Lawmaker representing Ijumu/Kabba Federal Constituency, who recently defected from the Africa Democratic Congress (ADC) to APC. Thousands of Idris’ supporters also joined the APC.
Presenting the APC flag to Idris, Governor Ododo noted that the federal lawmaker’s defection demonstrates APC’s leadership quality and commitment to development. “APC is a symbol of unity and strength. This will serve as a pointer to those who do not mean well for our state that APC is working and receiving personalities who mean well for our people,” he said.
– _Free, Fair, and Credible Election_: Governor Ododo promised to conduct a transparent local government election.
– _Unity and Development_: APC emphasizes unity and development as its core values.
– _Defection Boost_: Salman Idris’ defection from ADC to APC is seen as a significant gain for the party.
As the campaign gains momentum, APC candidates are expected to return to their local governments to canvass for votes. With Governor Ododo’s assurance of a 100% victory, the party is poised to consolidate its grip on Kogi State’s local governments.
