In a bid to alleviate the economic burden on workers in the state, Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, has approved a work-from-home arrangement for civil servants.
According to a statement by the Special Adviser on Media to the Governor, Mr. Yinka Oyebode, the new arrangement is aimed at cushioning the effect of the current economic situation on workers in the state. Under the arrangement, officers on levels 01-07 will work from home three days a week, while officers on levels 08-12 will work from home two days a week. Officers on levels 13-17 are expected to work from home once a week.
The arrangement, which commences on Monday, September 9, 2024, excludes essential workers such as teachers, core health workers in hospitals, and security personnel, among others. Each Ministry, Department, and Agency (MDA) is expected to produce a workable schedule for staff to ensure that the new arrangement does not jeopardize effective service delivery.
The work-from-home arrangement will be in place for a period of two months and is subject to periodic review in line with prevailing circumstances. The governor’s directive also stated that the arrangement does not affect other palliative measures put in place by the state government, including the monthly wage award for workers and pensioners, and the free bus service for workers and students.
The Oyebanji-led administration has reiterated its commitment to workers’ welfare and will continue to implement necessary measures to enhance their productivity. The work-from-home arrangement is seen as a proactive step to support workers in the state during these challenging economic times.
