A student of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Christiana Idowu, who was kidnapped between Ikorodu and Yaba in Lagos State, has been reportedly murdered by her abductors.
The Student Union Government (SUG) president of FUNAAB, Ibrahim Adeyemi, confirmed the incident to our correspondent in a telephone conversation on Thursday. Adeyemi said, “The Union can confirm that she was reportedly killed by her abductor. We will be addressing the matter soon.”
A family source had earlier told PUNCH Metro that Christiana was abducted while traveling from Ikorodu to Yaba, where she was observing her industrial training. The source disclosed that the abductors demanded a ransom of N3m, which was later reduced to N350,000 after several appeals from the family. However, despite the payment, the abductors refused to release Christiana.
According to a viral post on X, intelligence operatives were able to uncover the location of the abductor through the Bank Verification Number (BVN) and account details used in collecting the ransom from the family. The operatives reportedly traced the suspected abductor to a location in Ikorodu, Lagos State, where the family of Christiana also resides.
Efforts to get the reaction of Christiana’s family proved abortive as calls and messages made to the family source
