The Deeper Life Church has denied any affiliation with Obatayo Adetunji, a 60-year-old man accused of having carnal knowledge of a 14-year-old girl.
Adetunji had claimed to be a pastor in the church.
In a statement issued by Pastor Oludu David, Oka Regional Overseer, the church condemned the rumor circulating on social media that Adetunji was a pastor in the region. The church emphasized that Adetunji is neither a pastor nor a worker at Deeper Life Bible Church in Oka Region.
The suspect was arrested by the state police command after the victim informed her parents about the sexual relationship with the accused person. He was later charged to court on three counts bordering on defilement and unlawfully prescribing drugs to procure an abortion for the victim.
The Deeper Life Church has urged the public to disregard the affiliation of the purported pastor, stating that Adetunji is not a regular member of Deeper Life Bible Church in Oka Akoko. The church revealed that Adetunji had only sought financial assistance from the church in 2023.
The police have taken swift action against the suspect, arresting and charging him to court for his alleged crimes. The case is currently being heard, and the suspect faces serious consequences if found guilty.
