Oluwadamilola Aderinoye, a former beauty queen, has surrendered to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) after eight months in hiding.
Aderinoye, who was declared wanted in January, turned herself in at the NDLEA’s Lagos command on Wednesday.
The NDLEA has made significant seizures and arrests in recent weeks. At the Port Harcourt Port Complex and Tincan seaport in Lagos, operatives intercepted tramadol pills and codeine-based syrup worth over N17.9 billion. Additionally, a suspect was arrested at the Port Harcourt International Airport with 1,490 pills of tramadol concealed as cosmetics.
In Lagos, 1,122 kilograms of cannabis were seized from a suspect, while 816kg of the same substance was recovered from the same location. In Niger State, operatives arrested a suspect conveying tramadol, codeine syrup, and exol-5 tablets. In Bauchi state, two suspects were arrested transporting 308 blocks of cannabis weighing 246.4kg.
The NDLEA’s spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, noted that the agency’s efforts have led to significant seizures and arrests. The agency’s vigilance and intelligence processing have disrupted the movement of illicit substances, leading to a safer Nigeria.
