The family of Kogi journalist, Mohammed Bashir, and nine others kidnapped in a Kaduna suburb two weeks ago have been released.
Bashir confirmed their release in a statement, expressing gratitude for the prayers and concern shown by colleagues.
Bashir did not provide details on how the victims were released or whether a ransom was paid. He simply stated, “My dear Colleagues, I wish to thank you all for your prayers and concern, my family and other family members kidnapped three weeks ago in Kaduna have finally been released.”
Recall that Bashir’s wife, Aminat Shana, and their two daughters, Aisha and Hajara, were kidnapped alongside other family members and taken to an unknown destination. The released family members include Aisha Saba Khadija, Haruna, Adamu Haruna, Muhammad Abubakar, Asmau Abubakar, Usman Abubakar, Muhammad Abubakar, and Hauwa Muhammad.
Bashir expressed his gratitude, saying, “I am most grateful for your show of love; I pray such will never happen to any of us, our family and relations, thank you once again.”
