The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is leaving no stone unturned in its preparation for the Edo State governorship election scheduled for September 21, 2024.
The commission has announced plans to deploy over 5,000 Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) machines across the state’s 4,519 polling units and 211 collation centres.
A senior INEC official revealed that the commission is working tirelessly to ensure a seamless electoral process. “More than 5,000 BVAS devices will be deployed for the Edo State governorship election,” the official said. The BVAS machines will be used to accredit voters and upload election results electronically to the INEC Result Viewing portal.
As part of its preparation, INEC has scheduled a mock voter accreditation exercise for September 10, 2024, in Edo State. The exercise aims to test the BVAS deployment and electronic result upload process.
