The Yobe State Government has dismissed speculation that it has approved a new minimum wage, stating that it is still working on the issue and will release a statement once completed.
Mamman Mohammed, Director-General of Press and Media Affairs to the Yobe State Governor, described a social media post alleging minimum wage approval as “false and misleading”. He noted that the post lacked details and credibility, and was disowned by Daily Trust newspaper, whose logo was falsely used.
Mohammed emphasized that it was “grossly irresponsible” for anyone to speak or post on behalf of the state government without authorization. He urged the public to disregard the misleading post and await an official statement from the government.
The clarification comes as speculation swirls around the minimum wage approval, with many awaiting official confirmation from the Yobe State Government.
