Russia has cautioned the United States against permitting Ukraine to launch Western missile strikes into Russian territory, warning of severe consequences and potential escalation beyond Europe’s borders.
President Vladimir Putin vowed a “worthy response” to any such attack, as Ukraine urges Western arms donors to allow long-range strikes deep inside Russia. Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov accused the West of seeking to escalate the conflict, saying they were “asking for trouble” by considering Ukrainian requests.
Lavrov criticized the US mentality, saying, “The American mentality is that of a master, who sits on the other coast convinced of his safety and that others will do the dirty work for him. He expects others to die for him, not just Ukrainians, but also Europeans, it appears.”
Russia emphasized the need for restraint and diplomatic efforts to resolve the situation, urging all parties to pursue a peaceful resolution. The warning comes as tensions rise between Russia and the West over Ukraine’s requests for long-range weapons.
The conflict’s potential escalation beyond Europe’s borders raises concerns about global stability and security. Russia’s warnings highlight the need for cautious decision-making and diplomatic engagement to prevent further escalation.
