Nigerian singer Omah Lay has made a shocking revelation, alleging that a fellow artist stole his idea for a new album.
In an interview on the Zach Sang Show, Omah Lay explained that he shared his concept with the unnamed colleague, hoping to collaborate, but was shocked when the artist released an album with the same idea.
The incident forced Omah Lay to re-record his album, which he claims will be the greatest in Afrobeats history. “My song ‘Holy Ghost’ is a new sound. I was going to make the whole album with the new sound, but along the line, I changed my mind,” he said.
Omah Lay expressed disappointment, stating, “He came to me, and I accepted for us to collaborate. Of course, it’s an artist that I love. And I told him where I’m headed with the sound. Five months later, he put out an album with exactly all the same sound that I shared with him.”
The experience has taught Omah Lay to be cautious about sharing his creative ideas with others. Despite the setback, he remains optimistic about his upcoming album, promising fans it will be worth the wait.
