Former Anambra State Governor and 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has called for transparency regarding the new presidential jet.
In a series of posts on his official X handle, Obi emphasized the need for Nigerians to know the cost, age, and operational history of the jet.
Obi stressed that transparency and accountability should be the hallmark of genuine leadership, adding that the government has nothing to lose by providing adequate information to the people. He noted that a presidential jet is a symbol of national sovereignty and state power, making its cost and maintenance a public accountability issue.
Obi also sought information on the disposal of old jets, including their number, age, and reason for sale. He thanked the French court for helping Nigerians access information about the new presidential jet, which had been shrouded in controversy.
Obi concluded by expressing hope that Nigerians would not be denied the right to full disclosure on the new presidential jet, emphasizing the importance of transparency in leadership.
