Dr Ayodele Olorunfemi, the Labour Party’s candidate for the upcoming Ondo Governorship election, has pledged to tackle corruption head-on if elected.
In an exclusive interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Lagos, Olorunfemi declared war on corruption, stating, “No corrupt person will escape our system.”
Olorunfemi emphasized that corruption and bribery have denied the masses the benefits of democracy, leading to widespread poverty and anger towards public officeholders. He stressed that winning the fight against corruption is crucial to implementing the party’s comprehensive transformation plan and bringing happiness to the state’s residents.
The LP candidate promised to adopt a zero-tolerance policy towards corruption, ensuring a robust accountability system, transparency in procurement, and curbing bribery in public offices through technology. He cited Governor Alex Otti of Abia as a shining example of success due to a zero-tolerance policy on corruption.
Olorunfemi pledged to follow due processes and procedures to combat corruption, ensuring that state resources are utilized for the people’s benefit, not for personal gain. With 17 political parties contesting the off-cycle governorship election in Ondo State, the LP candidate’s commitment to transparency and accountability sets him apart.
